Once a familiar urban sight, the Chimney Swift is now a Threatened species in Canada due to dramatic population declines over the past 40 years. This past summer marked the inaugural season for a new province-wide monitoring program from Bird Studies Canada - Ontario SwiftWatch, that aims to help stem these startling losses. Hazel will provide an overview of Ontario SwiftWatch, its links to Chimney Swift recovery strategies, and current challenges to Chimney Swift conservation.
