Website measures local carbon footprints

Southern Ontario residents have a new way to check the impact they’re having on the environment.

A new website called Zerofootprint Toronto will allow local residents, business people, neighborhood groups and even universities and churches to calculate their carbon footprints, and help them find ways to reduce their contribution to greenhouse gases.

“It’s up to all of us to do our part to minimize the impact of our day-to-day activities,” Mayor David Miller told a news conference in downtown Toronto today.

The initiative was first announced last spring, when Miller challenged other cities to join Toronto and help citizens fight greenhouse gas emissions.
