Why native plants?

  • The plants are adapted to the regions climate conditions – making them extremely hardy; very frost and drought tolerant
  • They’re easy to grow the environmentally safe way – organically
  • Native plants are largely perennial, so you can invest for the long term
  • They attract all levels of life from friendly bacteria and worms to birds, butterflies and mammals by providing habitat and food
  • They help preserve the fast-shrinking genetic pool of our botanical heritage
  • They’re low maintenance
  • They provide natural shoreline erosion control, beautifully and effectively, while providing bird habitat and healthy fish shelter
  • Help restore the health of soil: Plant roots add biomass, increase water filtration and prevent erosion
  • Water consumption can be reduced with native plants when appropriately placed according to their site requirements. Native grasses have roots 2 to 3 times the height of what is above ground, making them incredibly drought tolerant
  • They’re beautiful!
