eConscious Market is a For-Benefit business. In many ways what this means is that one of their primary reasons for being in business is to give money away. It means that nonprofits can’t receive donations unless business investors make money, and investors can’t make money without giving half of it away.

Unique to their model is the opportunity for individual customers to choose which nonprofit organization receives 50% of net profits from their purchases, so that every time you get, you give too.

eConscious Market is not an online affiliate-based eco-mall that donates it’s commissions to charity. Although they support those sites, their intention is to take it a good deal further. What they are is an online retailer that buys products at wholesale, sells them at or below suggested retail price and donates half of the profits from these transactions. What they are not here to do is to promote guilt free over-consumption – after all, the greenest purchase you can make is none at all. They here to do is provide consumers with responsible options when they need to purchase a product.
