Make your own festival, dammit!
Around this time last year, Live Earth—a set of worldwide concerts intended to raise awareness and fight global warming—was making headlines. Unfortunately, the event’s negative impact on the environment was also making headlines. According to John Buckley of CarbonFootPrint.com, the total carbon footprint for the thing weighed in somewhere around 31,500 tonnes. Compare that to the carbon footprint of the average person per year in Canada—about 11 tonnes per year, according to ZeroFootPrint.net—and the festival becomes a bit of a problem.
