Zerofootprint Named One of Canada’s Greenest Employers

TORONTO, April 17 – Zerofootprint Inc. has been selected by Maclean’s magazine as one of Canada’s Greenest Employers for 2009. Now in its 3rd year, this special Maclean’s issue recognizes employers that lead the nation in making environmental values part of their organizational culture. In announcing the award Maclean’s specifically cited Zerofootprint’s innovative carbon calculator that enables businesses and individuals to measure and track their carbon footprint.
Zerofootprint’s founder and CEO Ron Dembo said, “We are honoured to be included with this roster of environmentally conscious enterprises. We hope that the award will encourage other companies to see the benefits that come from taking up the green challenge.”
Recent Projects
Zerofootprint is pioneering a range of green solutions with practical applications for industry and individuals. The company also creates teaching tools for young children. Perhaps its most important environmental contribution came late last year with the launch of the VELO Enterprise Carbon Manager, an online product that allows organizations to manage carbon emissions in real time for operations close to home or around the world.
In another unique attempt to aid municipalities, organizations and individuals to reduce their carbon output, Zerofootprint has just issued a challenge to designers, architects and engineers to come up with new “re-skinning” solutions to reduce building emissions from commercial and residential buildings – the single largest source of greenhouse gases in our cities.
“At Zerofootprint we look for ways to help people and organizations address climate change in a profitable yet sustainable way,” Dr. Dembo said. “We are actively seeking global solutions to a problem that essentially lacks borders. It is only through comprehensive, 360 solutions that we can make a profound effect on the battle against global warming. That’s our goal.”
