May the best app win.

Need to know the weather in Bangkok? There’s an app for that.

Want to find an outstanding restaurant close to home? There’s an app for that.

Need to reduce your utility bills? Where’s the app for that?

The U.S. Energy Department’s Apps for Energy competition is offering $100,000 to create innovative applications that help utility customers learn about their electricity use. The competition is based on Green Button, an open standard for sharing electricity data.

On May 15th, Zerofootprint shared VELObill, an app that takes all of the confusing information on your electric, gas and water bills and turns it one easy-to-read, useful resource.

Think VELObill is for you? Vote for our app on the Apps for Energy Challenge!
